About Me

About me

Hi, I'm Helen – a certified baby and toddler sleep consultant, early years practitioner, Mum of two, and the founder of Helen's Calm Nights.

My passion for helping families began with my own journey into motherhood and returning to work after maternity leave. Like so many parents, I know what it's like to function on broken sleep, question every decision, and spend hours searching for answers, wondering if things will ever get easier. I also know how overwhelming it can feel when you're trying to balance family life, work, and everything else that comes with being a parent.

My own journey into motherhood wasn't straightforward. After becoming pregnant via IVF, I felt incredibly grateful to finally have my baby. That gratitude also came with guilt. I convinced myself I shouldn't ask for help because I'd wanted this so much. Looking back, I know now that struggling with sleep doesn't make you any less grateful, and asking for support doesn't make you a bad parent.

Just three days after becoming a Mum for the first time, I lost my own Mum. Overnight, I found myself navigating the joys of new motherhood alongside unimaginable grief. It was a life changing experience that taught me how important it is to have support during those early days. It also shaped the way I work today, with kindness, empathy, and the understanding that every family's journey is different. You never know what someone may be carrying behind the scenes, and I want every parent I work with to feel heard, supported, and never judged.

Alongside my work as a sleep consultant, I'm also an early years practitioner, spending my days supporting babies and young children as they learn, grow, and develop. This gives me a deep understanding of child development and reinforces just how important quality sleep is, not only for children, but for the wellbeing of the whole family.

My approach is gentle, responsive, and completely tailored to your family. While I can’t promise that there won’t be tears, I don't believe in leaving babies on their own to cry or expecting families to follow rigid routines that don't feel right or fit in to their family life.

Every child is unique, and together we'll create a realistic plan that fits your parenting style, your child's temperament, and your family's needs.

For me, this is about so much more than helping babies sleep. It's about giving exhausted parents the confidence to trust themselves again, helping families feel calmer, and creating more opportunities to enjoy the moments that matter most.

If you're ready for calmer nights, brighter mornings, and compassionate support every step of the way, I'd love to be part of your journey.

Returning to work after having a baby is one of life's biggest transitions and doing it while surviving broken nights can feel overwhelming. I know this because I've been there myself.

When you're running on very little sleep, everything feels harder. It's not just the tiredness. It's trying to concentrate in meetings after being awake half the night, remembering everyday tasks through the brain fog, finding the patience and energy to be the parent you want to be, and feeling guilty that you're not giving your best at home or at work.

That's where I can help.

I specialise in supporting mums and families through this stage, creating gentle, responsive sleep plans that fit around your family's routines, your baby's unique temperament, and your return to work timeline. My approach is never one-size-fits-all because every family and every baby is different.

Whether you're hoping for more settled nights, more predictable naps, or calmer bedtimes, I'll work alongside you to make realistic, manageable changes that feel achievable and sustainable.

When you work with me, you're not just receiving a personalised sleep plan. You're gaining someone who genuinely listens, answers your questions, celebrates the wins with you, and supports you through the tougher days too. You'll never be judged, and you'll never be expected to follow an approach that doesn't feel right for your family.

My goal is simple: to help your little one develop healthy sleep habits, so you can get the rest you need to feel calmer, more confident, and like yourself again. Whether that's enjoying precious family time, returning to work with confidence, or simply waking up with the energy to enjoy the day ahead.
